How to Get a Western Look in Your Home Decor

Whether you are a dedicated western and cowboy enthusiast or just looking for an eclectic feel to your home decor, there are many accessories available to help you achieve the look you want. Western wall art, lighting, bedding, bathroom accessories and dinnerware are just a few of your options.

Vintage wood signs can be purchased from antique dealers, and new replicas can be found in various home decorating stores online. These look great in game rooms and media rooms, adding a warm, rustic feel and a splash of color to the room. Cowboy metal art is also a good choice. The western themed scenes can be custom ordered. Hand painted artwork depicting horses and prairies will also give your room a western influence.

For western lighting, you can change your chandelier or ceiling mount light. Deer antler chandeliers look great over a dining room table. Deer and elk naturally shed their antlers, which are them crafted into chandeliers, so no animals are injured and the product reuses natural resources. You can also find western lamps and lamp shades, such as calf skin shades and lamps with horseshoe bases.

In the bedroom, look for bedding and linens that use earth tones and fabrics such as Wampum, Diablo, suede and leather. Fringe and conchos on pillows add more cowboy flavor. Leather or faux leather headboards, embellished with stars and fringe are also available. In the bathroom, towel rings and bars, shower hooks and robe hooks made from powder-coated metal in brown finishes can be found. Look for stars, cowboys, horses and other motifs to finish your look.

Ranch dinnerware with cow or horse motifs are a great way to set your table with some western flair. Look for dishes with cow branding symbols, boots, saddles, and other western designs. Cowhide place mats with leather-laced edges, flatware decorated with ropes, stars and brands, and cowboy glassware with stars and longhorns will help you finish out your setting.

Try some of these ideas to give you home a cozy, cowboy appeal. Or use them for a fun, western-themed party. There are many options to find and searching through antique stores, flea markets, and the Internet to find them is half the fun.
